Jackie and Sean have been married since 1992, have 3 adult children, a family dog, Zen, who is a child friendly, hypoallergenic breed. Jackie grew up in a rural, northern Minnesota town. She lived in Minneapolis and St. Paul while working and attending college until 1998 when Jackie and Sean came to Rochester. Jackie opened her family child care program shortly upon arrival in Rochester.
Jackie is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a BA in Child Psychology. During those years, she was employed as a supervisor and event coordinator at the University of Minnesota Parking and Transportation Services while earning her degree. She also worked in a variety of positions for the Minnesota 4-H program and as a Girl Scouts summer camp counselor.
Jackie is a lifelong learner, teacher, advocate, and mentor to others in the child care profession. She is a credentialed Minnesota Infant Toddler Specialist and a certified SEEDS of Early Literacy preschool teacher. She is a retired early childhood adult educator specializing in the MN CDA (Child Development Associate), the MN Infant Toddler CDA, the MN Relationship Based Professional Development Specialist credential and the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress.
Jackie has served as an early childhood advocate locally and in the MN legislature. She contributed to the child care profession as a board member on a number of early childhood organizations that directly support family childcare and its role in MN early childhood education and the MN workforce. Her contributions and leadership have been recognized. In 2007, Jackie was named the Olmsted County Provider of the Year and recognized at the Minnesota Licensed Family Child Care Association Provider of the Year ceremony. In 2014, Jackie was awarded the 2014 SE Minnesota Advocate of the Year Award and the 2014 Minnesota Licensed Family Childcare Association Advocate of the Year Award for her leadership locally and statewide.
